After purchasing a townhouse in Pensacola, FL in the latter part of 2014, I felt that the unit needed to be completely overhauled in order for the property to feel like “home.” A good friend of mine is an interior designer, but had recently moved up north to be closer to family. Not knowing anyone else in the area, I researched Houzz and found In Detail Interior’s profile to be intriguing based on the reviews & portfolio of project photos. I decided to contact the firm, and an appointment was quickly arranged with owner and lead designer, Cheryl.
From the moment that Cheryl arrived, I felt that she was definitely the designer that I needed to help facilitate & execute my vision for the space.
I’m not the “cookie cutter” type, and I immediately realized that Cheryl had a knack for envisioning ideas that were unique, yet tasteful, timeless, and sophisticated.
Cheryl has communicated well via many forms of communication — email, text, etc, which is important to me as I’m a busy professional & not always easily accessible for immediate follow-up appointments.
Cheryl has been helpful in assisting me in deciding which design aspects I needed to invest heavily in (some furniture pieces in the living room & master bedroom, original/statement art work over the fireplace, etc.), and those that I should look for more affordable & less-expensive options (some accessories & artwork in less noticeable areas).
Cheryl is quick to point out & fight for a great piece (furniture, art, accessory, paint color) when she knows it will definitely work in the space, but she’ll also hesitate when she feels that perhaps, there’s a better options that we haven’t yet found. These qualities provide reassurance to the customer that you’re working with a professional, and you learn to trust her judgment as an experienced designer.
There have been a lot of decisions to make, but this being my first time working with an interior designer, I’d definitely do it again — especially with In Detail Interiors.
There have been a few shipping obstacles with some of the furniture pieces that were chosen, especially during the holiday season, but overall — all of the vendors, manufacturers, and distributors that we have ordered pieces from have been responsive and on-time. In fact, I can’t imagine moving into any other space in the future without Cheryl’s input & feedback.
