New Jersey Colonial Makeover – Moody Living Room

Colonial Living Room Makeover, New Jersey - Grasscloth wallpaper, teal curtains, velvet sofa, original art and dark furniture

Who says a colonial traditional home has to be stuffy?

This is one gorgeous colonial traditional home has a family room with 8 ft. ceilings! The space transformed from a super traditional colonial makeover into a modernized space with casual style for a family of four.  We used Benjamin Moore Rodeo for the wall paint color along with new hardwood floors and window treatments. Plus, a new custom built entertainment center and other furnishings highlight the gorgeous art on the walls!

Gorgeous dining room makeover from dark and formal to light and bright! Using wallpaper and gorgeous lighting, we created a completely new space.

This dining room was dated and drab. Typical New Jersey colonial layout and rooms hardly used as they were simply too formal. We reinvented this space as a cool room to dine in but also play games, do puzzles and other activities. No more is it boring and unused!

Art and lighting makes all the difference in this dining room

We used big and bold colorful art and beautiful lighting in this dining room makeover.  Want to know more about lighting? This post will tell you all about how to use sconces!

Colonial reimagined!

This traditional New Jersey colonial makeover was much needed for the family home to fit the family’s needs. The living room specifically was stuffy and hardly used. The goal was to take this colonial traditional home and give it a new direction!

Where to start? The Floors!

This room was carpeted and just did not wear well- so we recommended a change in all the flooring to a new wood stained with a light touch. This provided the backdrop to make some major changes in the style of the room. The client’s were very trusting as we had worked with them before- and when we suggested a black greek key grasscloth- we were happily surprised they embraced the idea.

Sexy but comfortable

The client wanted to be able to come into this room for specific reasons- to read and relax without television, to play the piano and to entertain. The room needed a cozy and cohesive style and with comfortable furnishings and a place to display treasures. A bar was a nice touch too!
